Colombo: Due to the economic and food crisis in Sri Lanka, it has become difficult for the people to live. Alam is that people are not getting LPG gas and essential food items. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that the country is going through a bad situation and the government will buy enough fertilizer for the next planting session to deal with the food crisis.
In fact, in April last year, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa banned the import of chemical and fertilizer products. Due to which the crops got damaged in the fields and there was a shortage of food grains. The government had to import food and drink from other countries and due to this, inflation increased.Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe tweeted that while the fertilizers cannot be obtained for the May and August seasons, necessary steps are being taken to arrange for the fertilizers for the September and March seasons. PM Wickremesinghe has appealed to the people to understand and accept the seriousness of the situation.According to Reuters, a woman selling fruits in Colombo told that, it is not known how the situation in the country became within two months. The price of a cylinder in the country has reached up to Rs 5000. Whereas in April this price was Rs 2675. After a long wait, only 200 cylinders were delivered. How would we live without gas and food? In the end we will have only one option that we will die of hunger.
