In Haryana, the opposition to the Agneepath scheme brought for recruitment in the army seems to be increasing on the path of farmers' movement. Leaders of some khap panchayats of Haryana have appealed that those applying for recruitment under the Agneepath scheme should be socially boycotted. Not only this, Khap leaders have also called for the opposition of BJP and Jannayak Janata Party leaders. Apart from this, an appeal has also been made to oppose the corporate houses supporting the scheme. Let us inform that many businessmen including Anand Mahindra have supported this scheme and have assured to give jobs to the youth who are retiring as Agniveer.

According to reports, a meeting of leaders of Khap Panchayats and some other communities was held in Sampla town of Rohtak district of Haryana on Wednesday. Leaders from states like Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh participated in this meeting. Apart from this, some student organizations also participated in it. OP Dhankhar, leader of Dhankhar Khap, who presided over this meeting, said that we will try to isolate those people who will apply for jobs under this scheme. We are opposing this scheme, which is an attempt to make youth laborers in the name of Agniveer.

Will those applying under this scheme be boycotted? On this question, Dhankhar said that we do not want to use the word Boycott, but social distance will be maintained from them. Actually, the army has issued the notification for the recruitment of Agniveers and for this online registration will start from July. According to the plan, the people recruited as Agniveers will have a tenure of 4 years and after that 75 per cent will be discharged and the remaining 25 per cent will be recruited as regular soldiers.

Why the scheme is being protested in many states

However, 75 per cent of the soldiers who retire will be issued a certificate. On the basis of which they will be given priority in the recruitment of all government services and paramilitary forces. Despite these announcements from the government, there is a protest against this scheme in many states including UP, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh.
