Uttarakhand News: Uttarakhand may soon implement Uniform Civil Code (UCC). According to sources, the committee formed under the leadership of Ranjana Desai in Uttarakhand can submit the report to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in the next one to two days. There are also preparations to call a special session of the Uttarakhand Assembly after Diwali. The Uniform Civil Code Bill will be presented in the Assembly session and will be given the shape of a law.

CM Dhami had promised to implement UCC in the state during the assembly elections. For this he had formed a committee. The committee had sought suggestions from people through an online portal. After this, about 20 lakh people had sent their suggestions to the committee. The draft of UCC has already been prepared.

It is noteworthy that CM Pushkar Singh Dhami had held a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding UCC last month. Chairperson of Uttarakhand UCC Committee, retired judge Justice Ranjana Desai and other members were also present in this meeting.
