Kedarnath Landslip / 5 Killed, 3 Injured in Massive Landslide on Kedarnath Route; More Pilgrims Feared Trapped

Kedarnath Landslide : Five people have lost their lives in a massive landslide between Sonprayag and Gaurikund on Monday; their bodies have been recovered. Initially, one person had been killed, then the death toll was updated to three, it has now mounted to five.

Kedarnath Landslide: A landslide has occurred between Sonprayag-Munkatiya (Rudraprayag), famous as Kedarnath Highway in Uttarakhand. 5 passengers have died and 3 are injured in this accident. However, many other passengers are feared to be buried in the debris for which rescue operation is being carried out. According to the information received so far, the local administration, NDRF and SDRF teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations.


Rescue operation going on rapidly

As soon as the information was received, SDRF, NDRF and Sector Magistrate Sonprayag were immediately dispatched for rescue. During this, the rescue team reached the spot and carried out a rapid operation, in which 5 dead and 3 injured were taken out. The injured have been sent to Sonprayag via ambulance for immediate treatment.


CM Dhami expressed grief

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed grief on receiving the sad news of the accident caused by the collapse of debris between Sonprayag-Munkatiya this evening. He said that very sad information was received about some passengers being buried due to debris between Sonprayag-Munkatiya (Rudraprayag). I myself am in touch with the concerned officials and monitoring the rescue operation. I pray to Baba Kedar for the safety of the passengers. CM Dhami said that my condolences are with the bereaved family. The rescue operation is still going on and all possible help is being given by the government.
