During this time, PM Modi will hold a bilateral meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, in which many important issues are likely to be discussed.

Second meeting of strategic partnership

During the visit, Prime Minister Modi will participate in the second meeting of the 'Strategic Partnership Council'. This platform institutionalizes the relations between the two countries and ensures that India-Saudi cooperation can be given a systematic and long-term form. Issues like defense cooperation, energy security, economic investment, and strategic partnership will be at the center of the discussion.

Expansion in defense cooperation

Defense cooperation between India and Saudi Arabia has grown rapidly in the last few years. Recently, the armies of both the countries have also conducted joint exercises. According to Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, India's $225 million deal to supply ammunition to Saudi Arabia gives new strength to this partnership. In future, there may also be agreements like training of Saudi army by Indian Army.

New possibilities in energy and investment

India is heavily dependent on Saudi Arabia for its energy needs. Security of energy supply and long-term contracts are also expected to be discussed in this visit. Along with this, India wants to attract Saudi investment, especially in areas like infrastructure, manufacturing and digital technology.

Interaction with Indian community

During this visit, Prime Minister Modi will visit a factory in Jeddah and interact with Indian expatriates working there. About 26 lakh Indians live in Saudi Arabia, who are like a strong human bridge in the relations between the two countries.

Shadow of Waqf law dispute?

This visit is taking place at a time when the controversy over the Waqf Amendment Act in India has deepened in political and social circles. However, the Foreign Secretary has clarified that Saudi Arabia has not yet made any official comment on this issue and it is unlikely to come up for discussion during the visit.

Possible agreements

Many important agreements are expected to be signed during PM Modi's visit. MoUs for cooperation in areas like defense, energy, investment, and skill development are in the final stages. These deals will further strengthen India-Saudi strategic relations.
