Ravindra Jadeja, who played a historic innings of 175 runs in Tests in Mohali, has also suffered a loss and has moved to second place in the all-rounder's ranking. Apart from this, Dimuth Karunaratne of Sri Lanka has also benefited in the ICC rankings.

Bumrah has overtaken Shaheen Afridi of Pakistan, Kyle Jameson of New Zealand, Tim Southee and Neil Wagner, besides Josh Hazlewood of Australia and James Anderson of England.

Impact of the series against Sri Lanka

Jasprit Bumrah took eight wickets against Sri Lanka in the Bangalore Test. He also did the feat of taking five wickets for the first time on home soil. Because of this, he has gained six places in the ICC rankings. On the other hand, Mohammed Shami has moved up one place to 17th position.


Sri Lanka's Lasith Embuldeniya and Jayawickrama have gained five places. Ambuldeniya has moved up to 32nd and Jayavikrama at 45th. Among the bowlers, Australia's Pat Cummins remained at first, Ravichandran Ashwin second and Kagiso Rabada third.

Among the batsmen, Virat's loss, Karunaratne's advantage
