Haryana Election 2024: Congress has released its first list for the Haryana Assembly elections, which includes the names of 32 candidates. The party has given ticket to Meva Singh on Ladwa seat, while BJP has fielded CM Naib Singh Saini from this seat. Thus, there will be a direct contest between Meva Singh and CM Naib Singh Saini on the Ladwa seat.Political journey of Meva SinghMeva Singh's political career has been important in Haryana politics. Congress had also expressed confidence in him in the last assembly elections (2019), and he defeated BJP's Pawan Saini by 12,637 votes. Meva Singh, who entered politics in 1985-86, started as a sarpanch and became a part of the Indian National Lok Dal. Later he took over the responsibility of Kurukshetra Zila Parishad President.First election on BJP ticketMeva Singh had earlier contested on a BJP ticket from Ladwa assembly seat, which was separated from Kurukshetra in 2009. In this election, he got 21,775 votes, but Sher Singh Badshami won. Meva Singh left BJP and joined Congress in 2011.Joining Congress and electoral challengeAfter joining Congress in 2011, Meva Singh was convicted in the JBT scam in 2014, due to which he could not contest the election. His wife Bachan Kaur contested the election but could not succeed. In 2014, Pawan Saini of BJP won, but in 2019 Meva Singh once again won on behalf of Congress, this time defeating Pawan Saini.History and future of Ladwa seatLadwa seat has become a hot seat of Haryana assembly elections. So far no candidate has been able to win this seat twice in a row. INLD won in 2009, BJP in 2014 and Congress in 2019. Now it remains to be seen which party wins this seat in the 2024 elections. The election will be held on October 5 and the results will be declared on October 8.
