China-Pakistan Relations / Why is China kind to Pakistan? This is how it is lavishing 'love' worth Rs 43000 crore

Military cooperation between China and Pakistan is increasing. Recently, China handed over the second 'Hangor-class' submarine to Pakistan, which will strengthen its naval power. A total of eight submarines are included in this $5 billion deal. This support from China can become a matter of concern for India's security.

China-Pakistan Relations: Military cooperation between China and Pakistan is getting stronger day by day, which can have a serious impact on India's security. Recently, China has handed over the second 'Hangor-class' submarine to Pakistan, which will increase Pakistan's naval power in the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean. This submarine is equipped with advanced weapon systems and modern sensor technology, which can give Pakistan an edge in maritime combat capability.

$5 billion deal and Pakistan's growing military strength

China and Pakistan have signed a deal worth $5 billion (about Rs 43,000 crore Indian rupees) for the supply of 8 'Hangor-class' submarines. Under this agreement, Pakistan has received only the second submarine so far, which was launched in Wuhan, China. This deal will significantly increase Pakistan's maritime power, which can pose new security challenges for India. Additionally, China is strengthening its strategic hold in Pakistan through Gwadar Port and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

China's 'love' for Pakistan: Increasing arms cooperation

If we review the relations between China and Pakistan, it is clear that China has been providing significant assistance to Pakistan for the past several years to strengthen it militarily and economically. Of all the weapons imported by Pakistan between 2019 and 2023, 81 percent came from China. This figure is 74 percent more than in the last 5 years, which shows that Pakistan is becoming increasingly dependent on China.

According to the report of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), China's share in Pakistan's total arms imports has now reached 63 percent. According to media reports, the total value of weapons given by China to Pakistan is estimated to be around $ 5.3 billion. This cooperation can prove to be a serious challenge for India.

Security challenges for India and the threat of instability in South Asia

The increasing military cooperation between China and Pakistan is increasing security challenges for India. Advanced submarines and other military equipment being given to Pakistan can weaken India's maritime and land security. This can become a serious threat not only to India but to the stability of the entire South Asia region.

Given the threat posed by the China-Pakistan alliance, India needs to further strengthen its security policy. For this, India will have to upgrade its naval and air power as well as increase strategic partnerships, so that this growing threat can be effectively dealt with.
