Kuwait Building Fire: A fire broke out in a building in southern Mangaf, Kuwait. 40 Indians died in the incident. 30 Indians have been injured in the accident and about 90 Indians have been rescued. The fire broke out on Wednesday morning. According to a statement issued by the Kuwait Health Ministry, all the injured have been taken to several nearby hospitals for treatment. The ministry said that medical teams are trying their best to provide proper medical treatment to the injured. On the other hand, the Indian Embassy has also issued a helpline number.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has posted on Twitter about the accident. He wrote that the news of the fire incident has come as a deep shock. More than 40 deaths have occurred and more than 50 have been hospitalized. Our ambassador has gone to the camp. We are awaiting further information. He further wrote that deep condolences to the families of those who tragically lost their lives. I wish those who are injured a speedy and complete recovery.

The injured were taken to the hospital

According to a statement issued by the Kuwait Health Ministry, all the injured people, some of whom are in critical condition, have been taken to several nearby hospitals for treatment. The ministry said that medical teams are making every effort to provide proper medical facilities to those injured in the fire in the building.

Most laborers live in the building

According to the report, the fire broke out in the kitchen of a labor camp at 4:30 am on Wednesday. Some people died after jumping out of the apartment after seeing the fire, while others died due to burns and smoke inhalation. According to a report, about 195 laborers live in the building. It is owned by a Malayali businessman KG Abraham. Although the fire has been brought under control, some people are still reported to be trapped inside.

Foreign workers live in Mangaf area

Kuwait's Health Ministry said that the area where the fire broke out in the southern Mangaf district on Wednesday morning is full of foreign workers. Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousuf Al-Sabah has ordered the arrest of the building owner while visiting the spot. Sheikh Fahad said that the greed of real estate owners gives rise to such cases.

Death due to smoke

According to a senior Kuwaiti police officer, only workers lived in the building where the fire broke out. Dozens of them have been rescued, but unfortunately Indian workers died due to smoke. Talking to Al Jazeera, the senior police officer said that we keep warning people about this, but still workers are crammed badly in the labor camp, due to which accidents happen.

Cause of fire not yet clear

It is not yet clear how the fire broke out in the building, it is believed that an investigation is being conducted in this regard. Apart from this, no information has been given by Kuwait so far. It is also not clear where in India the dead labourers were from. Officials of the Indian Embassy in Kuwait are trying to find out where these Indians were from.
