Earthquake tremors of 7.7 magnitude were felt in Myanmar, the effect of which was felt in India's northeastern states and Delhi. Bangkok also experienced tremors of 6.2 magnitude. A bridge collapsed in Myanmar, while 43 people are missing after a 12-storey building collapsed in Bangkok.

Strong tremors of earthquake were felt in Myanmar, the intensity of which was measured at 7.7 on the Richter scale. The effect of this earthquake was so widespread that tremors were felt in the northeastern states of India as well as the capital Delhi. The tremors of the earthquake were quite intense in Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Nagaland, although no major damage has been reported so far.

The effect of the earthquake was also seen in Thailand's capital Bangkok, where tremors of magnitude 6.2 were recorded. The first tremor in Myanmar came at 11:52 am and the second at 12:02 pm. People panicked and came out of the buildings after feeling the tremors twice in a row.

According to the German Research Center for Geo Sciences, the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometers from the surface of the earth in Myanmar, which increased its intensity and effect.

A bridge in Sagaing Township, Myanmar could not withstand the tremors of the earthquake and broke down. The collapse of the bridge brought the traffic to a complete halt, hampering relief work.

A 12-storey under-construction building collapsed in Chatuchak area of ​​​​Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. 43 workers went missing due to the collapse of the building, most of whom are feared to be trapped under the rubble. In a viral video on social media, people were seen running in panic after the building collapsed.


Panic in Bangkok's rooftop building:

Due to the earthquake, the water of the rooftop pool of a high-rise building in Bangkok started falling down, causing panic in the entire building. The basement of the building was completely submerged due to the falling water, causing heavy damage.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the earthquake was in Sagaing region of Myanmar. The earthquake occurred due to the collision of two tectonic plates located 10 kilometers below the ground.


Experts say that mild tremors were also felt before the powerful earthquake, which was a sign of the main earthquake.
