Uttarakhand / 9 bodies recovered in avalanche tragedy search continues for 29 people

A total of 9 bodies have been recovered after the avalanche tragedy in Uttarakhand. The Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) said on Thursday that 29 trainee climbers are still trapped in the avalanche. NIM said that out of the recovered bodies, four bodies were recovered on Tuesday and Wednesday. ITBP PRO said that the recovered bodies are present at the base camp.

Rescue teams running on war footing

Trainee climbers were trapped in a snow storm in Uttarkashi. The stranded people are being rescued by the rescue team. The stranded people are being searched by a team of experts from State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) and Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir. Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) and Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) are also engaged to rescue mountaineers trapped after an avalanche hit Draupadi's Danda-II mountain peak in Uttarkashi's Uttarkashi on Tuesday.

Advance helicopter landing ground prepared at 16,000 feet

More ITBP personnel have been sent to the advance camp for rescue. An advanced helicopter landing ground has also been prepared at an altitude of 16,000 feet. A successful landing has also been done on this landing ground this morning. Several helicopters have been sent for rescue.

A total of 175 climbers were included in the team of climbers. Rescue teams are still searching for 29 climbers. Bodies of 9 climbers have been recovered.
