Bihar Politics: There is a national executive meeting of Janata Dal (United) i.e. JDU in Delhi today. This meeting will start at 11.30 am and all the big leaders including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will attend. It is being said that the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and seat sharing with India Alliance partners can be discussed on the agenda of the meeting. A committee can be formed to start talks on this. At the same time, talks are possible only if there is harmony within the party to ensure that there is no visible discord within the party.
After this meeting Nitish Kumar can announce a big decision. It is being said that Nitish Kumar can be made the President of JDU, while Lalan Singh himself can resign. However, party leader KC Tyagi has termed the speculations about Lalan Singh's resignation as wrong. At the same time, he has also put an end to the discussions about JDU joining NDA. He says that the party is not going with NDA.
It is also being said that Nitish Kumar can take the command of the party in his own hands or hand it over to a trusted ally. The change in the top post of the party could be due to Lalan Singh's growing closeness with Lalu Yadav's RJD, the key partner in the coalition government. The Chief Minister is trying to strengthen his hold on the party in the election year.
Giriraj Singh's big claim, Nitish's chair in danger
According to information received from sources, Lalan Singh's resignation was not discussed in the meeting of JDU national officials on Thursday. Only election preparations were discussed in the meeting. At the same time, Union Minister and senior BJP leader Giriraj Singh has made a big claim regarding CM Nitish Kumar. He says that CM Nitish's chair is in danger. Tejashwi Yadav will become Chief Minister in his place. Merger of JDU with RJD is certain.
The rising political temperature amid the harsh winter in Bihar is increasing the heat. The balance of power in the government is tilted in favor of RJD. It has 79 MLAs and JDU has 45. There is talk in political circles that RJD, as a major partner in the alliance, may soon put pressure on its leader and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav to promote him. Apart from this, on seat sharing, RJD can raise the demand of taking more seats from JDU by citing the number of its MLAs.
JDU wants to contest elections on 17 Lok Sabha seats
JDU wants to contest at least 17 out of 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar and wants to leave the remaining 23 seats for RJD, Congress and CPM (ML). Nitish Kumar is trying to increase his stature in national politics. However, he has completely denied the claim for the post of Prime Minister from the India Alliance and says that he has no desire for the post. Nitish Kumar's role in building the India Alliance is considered important. He took the initiative to bring all the opposition parties on one platform. Nitish had organized the first meeting in Patna earlier this year. After this he laid emphasis on caste census.
