Bihar Politics: Jan Suraj Party founder and eminent election strategist Prashant Kishore made a big announcement on Sunday, April 27, by holding a press conference in Harnaut assembly constituency of Nalanda district. He announced that a massive signature campaign will be launched against the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar, which will start from Kalyan Bigha, the native village of the Chief Minister himself, on May 11.Prashant Kishore said, "There is a common belief in Bihar that even though the development of the entire state is stagnant, Nitish Kumar has done remarkable work in his home district. Our aim is to break this myth through ground truth."Movement from Nitish Kumar's village against Nitish KumarDuring the press conference, Prashant Kishore directly targeted Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and said that the promise made by his government to provide financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to poor families is nowhere to be seen on the ground. "The CM himself had told in the assembly that 94 lakh families in the state are eligible for this assistance, but till now this scheme is limited to papers only. This promise also looks similar to the promise of giving Rs 15 lakh to every bank account holder by Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Kishore quipped.Investigating corruption and development claimsPrashant Kishore accused the government of not fulfilling other promises as well. He said that whether it is the promise of giving two decimal land to Dalit families for farming or the land survey program going on in the state - corruption is rampant everywhere. "Despite being in power for two decades, the Chief Minister could not bring change even in his own village, the time has come to bring this reality before the public," Kishore said.Robust welcome under 'Jan Suraj Udghosh Yatra'Prashant Kishore reached Nalanda on Sunday under the 'Jan Suraj Udghosh Yatra', where he was warmly welcomed at many places including Bihar Sharif and Rahui. After the press conference held in Biharsharif, Kishore also interacted with the people and told about his plans. This move of Jan Suraj Party is being seen as the beginning of a new chapter in Bihar politics, where preparations are being made to surround the ruling party in its stronghold. Now it will be interesting to see what impact this campaign starting from Kalyan Bigha on May 11 has on the politics of the state.
