Former Delhi CM and AAP leader Atishi's security has been reduced from 'Z' to 'Y' category. The Home Ministry directed Delhi Police. In the review of central agencies, Atishi was not considered a major threat. Now she will get 12 security personnel and limited facilities.

Atishi Marlena Security: A major administrative decision has come out regarding the security of former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi. The Home Ministry has issued instructions to reduce her security category from 'Z' to 'Y' category. This decision has been taken after a thorough review of Atishi's security status by central security agencies.

Decision taken based on review of security agencies

According to a senior police officer, central security agencies recently conducted a detailed review of Atishi's security and potential threats. This assessment concluded that she currently does not face any new or serious threat, which justifies 'Z' category security. On this basis, the Home Ministry directed the Delhi Police to reduce her security cover.

'Y' category security: Security with limited resources

Under the 'Y' category security protocol, Atishi will now be protected by a team of about 12 security personnel, including two Delhi Police commandos. At the same time, many special facilities are cut in the Y category as compared to the Z category. These include facilities like pilot vehicle, large number of security personnel and special traffic clearance during travel, which they will no longer get.

A major process of security re-evaluation

According to sources, the security unit of Delhi Police had sought guidance from the Home Ministry on the security status of Atishi. This instruction was issued under this process. Earlier, Delhi Police had also consulted the ministry regarding the security of Arvind Kejriwal. Kejriwal currently receives 'Z Plus' category security, which has been retained.

Indications of change in security earlier also

In the month of March also, Delhi Police had proposed to remove the Y category security given to former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, AAP MLA Ajay Dutt and former Speaker of the Assembly Ram Niwas Goyal. In such a situation, it is clear that the review of the security status of leaders from time to time by the security agencies is a continuous process, and decisions are being taken on this basis.
