New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry said on Friday that vaccine production takes time and cannot be extended overnight. The Health Ministry said that being a biological product, the vaccine takes time to prepare and its quality check and cannot be done overnight due to the safe product being ensured.

The Ministry said that the Government of India is regularly negotiating with national and international manufacturers, including manufacturers like Pfizer, Moderna, to make vaccines available in the country through the National Expert Group on Vaccination for Kovid-19.

The Ministry said in a statement, "The concrete action is a strong indication that the Indian government will increase the production of vaccines in the country as well as to attract foreign vaccine manufacturers to supply the vaccine supplements required for the National Covid Vaccination Program." Is doing everything possible for

The ministry said that despite availability constraints, India has performed well by immunizing 200 million people in just 130 days, the third largest coverage in the world.

This statement from the Ministry of Health came at a time when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has questioned the speed of vaccination and said that the government has no strategy for vaccination. He had said that at the current pace it would take three years to vaccinate the population of the entire country and by then many waves of corona would have arrived in India. However, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar had also responded to these criticisms by saying that the Ministry of Health has prepared a roadmap to give the vaccine to the entire population of the country by December 2021.
