Gautam Gambhir News: There is a stir in the Indian cricket team after the embarrassing 0-3 defeat in the Test series against New Zealand. This defeat has raised questions not only on the players but also on the coaching staff and management. Many questions are now being raised on the strategies and leadership ability of head coach Gautam Gambhir, who has recently joined Team India. The Indian team now has to tour Australia soon for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where their performance can decide Gambhir's future.

BCCI's position towards Gambhir

After the T20 World Cup win, Rahul Dravid's tenure ended, after which the BCCI appointed him as the head coach of the Indian team, considering Gambhir's experience and record in the IPL. But during his tenure, the Indian team is constantly struggling. The defeat in the ODI series against Sri Lanka and the 0-3 defeat in the Test series at home have forced the BCCI to think about whether to appoint different coaches for both formats.

Consideration of different coaching structure

According to sources, the BCCI is not in favor of removing Gambhir with immediate effect. However, the board is considering appointing separate coaches for red and white ball cricket. This decision will depend on the performance of the team on the Australia tour. If the team performs poorly there too, Gambhir can be removed from the coaching of the Test team and this responsibility can be handed over to VVS Laxman, while Gambhir can remain associated with the ODI and T20 team. Laxman is currently with the T20 team on the South Africa tour and he was earlier in the same role on the Zimbabwe tour.

BCCI's discussion and questions with Gambhir

After losing the match in just three days in the Mumbai Test and being wiped out 0-3 in the series, the BCCI held a meeting with captain Rohit Sharma, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar. In this, the demand for a "rank turner" pitch and the decision to rest Jasprit Bumrah in the last match were seriously discussed.

In the meeting, Rohit Sharma was also asked about Gambhir's coaching style and team selection. According to a PTI report, it was revealed in this meeting that there are differences between some members of the team management and coach Gambhir regarding selection. Also, the plan to return to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was also discussed.

Last chance for Gambhir?

The Australia tour can prove to be decisive for Gautam Gambhir's coaching career. If the team's performance remains poor there too, then the BCCI will not shy away from taking strict action against Gambhir. This decision can mark the beginning of a new coaching structure in Indian cricket, which may prove helpful in giving new and better results to Team India.
