The Ayodhya junction of Indian Railways is set to get a Ram temple-modelled makeover by the Northern Railway zone, the pictures of which have surfaced. Phase one of the project, where a grand station building with a contemporary facade will be developed, is expected to be completed by June 2021. The Ayodhya station's built-up area will be 1,00,000 sq ft.

Ayodhya: Ayodhya station of Indian Railways to get a world-class makeover! Piyush Goyal-led Indian Railways is all set to give the Ayodhya railway station a Ram Mandir-modelled makeover. The foundation stone for the Ram Mandir has been laid by PM Narendra Modi. In a bid to provide the best service and facilities to the visiting pilgrims, the Northern Railway zone is currently revamping the Ayodhya railway station. Since the holy city of Ayodhya is one of the country's most important religious places, the Indian Railways network will provide direct connectivity from Varanasi, Lucknow, and other religious places in the nearby areas. The Phase one of the Ayodhya railway station development project is expected to be completed by June 2021. Under phase one plan of the project, a grand station building with a contemporary façade will be developed. It is being said that in the coming future, the Ayodhya Circuit is likely to be the biggest tourist hub in the country.

The Ayodhya station's built-up area will be 100000 sq ft and will boast various modern facilities. The station platforms, aprons as well as the circulating area will be revamped.

On the first floor of the station, there will be general, first class, second class, and ladies waiting area, while at the ground floor of the station, there will be one for gents, one for ladies as well as one first-class waiting room.

At the revamped station premises, three air-conditioned retiring rooms will be set up. Also, gents' dormitory with 17 beds as well as ladies' dormitory with 10 beds will be set up.

On the ground floor of the revamped station, one food plaza, four shops, and on the station's first floor, one food plaza will be set up. Also, 19 urinals and 20 lavatories will be developed. Other proposed passenger-friendly amenities include a tourist information center, taxi booth, VIP restroom, VIP lounge, infant care, meeting room.

Under phase two, the entry/exit from the western link road will be upgraded. On frontage, 18000 sqm of an additional holding area will be developed. Besides, additional land has been demanded for infrastructure development on an area of on 1,50,00,00 sq ft, including two sick lines, two washing lines, four additional platforms.
