BCCI News: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a new initiative at the domestic level of Indian cricket, which will provide encouragement and recognition to the players. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah recently informed about this important initiative through a social media post. Under this, now the prize money will be announced for 'Player of the Match' and 'Player of the Tournament' in all women's and junior cricket tournaments.

Also, the 'Player of the Match' will be given prize money in Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali tournaments of senior men's cricket. Speaking about this new initiative, Jai Shah said, "We are introducing prize money for Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament in all women's and junior cricket tournaments under our domestic cricket program. In addition, prize money will be given for Player of the Match in Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali tournaments for senior men. The aim of this initiative is to recognize and reward excellent performances in the domestic circuit. Heartfelt thanks to the apex council for their unwavering support in this endeavor. Together we are creating a better environment for our cricketers. Jai Hind."

BCCI's prize money increased

Last year, the BCCI significantly increased the prize money for domestic cricket tournaments. The Ranji Trophy winner was given a cash prize of Rs 5 crore, while the Irani Cup winners got Rs 50 lakh and the runners-up got Rs 25 lakh. The winners of the Duleep Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy get Rs 1 crore and Rs 50 lakh respectively.

T20 World Cup victory and BCCI's prize money

The Indian cricket team recently won the trophy by defeating South Africa by 7 runs in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup. This victory has come after 17 years, and Rohit Sharma became the captain to win the T20 World Cup for the second time. The BCCI announced a prize money of Rs 125 crore for this historic victory of the Indian team, which is a huge incentive for the players and the team.
