Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and chose to bowl first at the Chepauk Stadium on Sunday. Chennai scored 212 runs for 2 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Hyderabad was limited to 134 runs in 18.5 overs. Tushar Deshpande took 4 wickets from Chennai. CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 98 runs on 54 balls, while Daryl Mitchell scored 52 runs on 32 balls.

Aiden Markram scored the highest score of 32 runs from SRH. Heinrich Klaasen was out after scoring 20 runs. Apart from Deshpande, Mathish Pathirana and Mustafizur Rahman got 2 wickets each.

Chennai, batting first, scored 212 runs for three wickets in 20 overs on the basis of half-centuries by Gaikwad and Mitchell and a century partnership between the two batsmen for the second wicket. In reply, Hyderabad's batting was very poor and the entire team was bundled out for 134 runs in 18.5 overs.
