Delhi Budget 2025: Delhi Union Territory Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented a budget of ₹1 lakh crore for the financial year 2025-26 in the Assembly on Tuesday. This budget is 31.5% higher than the previous financial year. The Finance Department is also under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Several important schemes and development projects for the residents of Delhi have been announced in this budget.

Health and Women Welfare

• Delhi citizens will now receive health insurance coverage of ₹10 lakh.

• ₹5,100 crore has been allocated for the ‘Women Prosperity Scheme’, under which every woman will receive financial assistance of ₹2,500 per month.

• The Ayushman Scheme will be implemented soon, adding ₹5 lakh from the central government’s Jan Arogya Yojana, providing a total coverage of ₹10 lakh. A budget of ₹2,144 crore has been allocated for this.

• ₹210 crore has been allocated for the Maternity Vandana Scheme.

Infrastructure and Transport

• Capital expenditure has been doubled to ₹28,000 crore.

• ₹1,000 crore has been allocated for Delhi’s road transport and NCR connectivity.

• To enhance women’s safety, 50,000 additional CCTV cameras will be installed.

• ₹3,843 crore has been allocated for bridge construction and maintenance.

• ₹696 crore has been earmarked for slum development.

• ₹20 crore has been allocated under the PM Housing Scheme.

• ₹100 crore has been allotted to open 100 Atal Canteens.

Water, Electricity, and Environment

• ₹9,000 crore has been allocated for clean water supply.

• GPS monitoring will be implemented to prevent tanker scams.

• Intelligent meters will be installed to prevent water theft.

• ₹500 crore has been allocated for the development of STPs (Sewage Treatment Plants).

• ₹200 crore has been set aside to bring water through pipelines from Munak Canal.

• A collaboration with the central government has been established to implement the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme.

• ₹500 crore has been allocated for the Environment and Forest Department.

• ₹300 crore has been earmarked for air pollution control.

• Six new CAQM centers will be established.

• Water quality will be tested at 32 locations.

Education and Technological Development

• APJ Abdul Kalam Language Labs will be established in 100 government schools (₹21 crore budget).

• Computer labs will be set up in 175 government schools.

• ₹100 crore has been allocated for smart classrooms.

• Free laptops will be provided to 1,200 students who pass 10th grade.

• ₹500 crore has been allocated for developing an Education Hub in Narela.

• 1,000 SC students will receive coaching facilities under the BR Ambedkar Stipend Scheme.

Social Security and Rural Development

• Monthly pensions for disabled individuals and needy women have been increased to ₹3,000 crore.

• The budget for Maithili and Bhojpuri academies has been doubled.

• Pending funds for senior citizen organizations for four years will be released.

• 150 childcare centers will be established under the Palna Scheme (₹50 crore budget).

• 1,000 modern Anganwadi centers will be built.

• The Rural Board will be re-established in Delhi (₹1,157 crore budget).

• Under the PM Kisan Scheme, the Delhi government will provide an additional ₹3,000 along with the ₹6,000 from the central government.

Industrial Development and Employment

• A new Industrial and Warehouse Policy will be introduced.

• A Single Window System will be implemented.

• Industrial areas will be developed.

• A Traders Welfare Board will be established.

• A Global Investors Summit will be held in Delhi every two years.

Justice and Security

• The number of Home Guards in Delhi will be increased from 10,000 to 25,000.

• A new jail complex will be constructed.

Transport Improvements

• 5,000 new electric buses will be added to Delhi’s transport fleet in 2025-26.

• ₹2,929 crore has been allocated for Delhi Metro.

• ₹12,952 crore has been allocated for the urban transport sector.

• The free bus travel scheme for women will continue.

• ₹603 crore has been allocated to tackle waterlogging issues.

• ₹150 crore has been allocated for drain reconstruction.
