Delhi budget 2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which returned to power in Delhi after 27 years, presented its first budget under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, which is Rs 1 lakh crore, Rs 22 thousand crore more than the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of Arvind Kejriwal. Through this budget, the BJP government has tried to prepare a new outline of the development of Delhi as well as to lay a strong base for the upcoming elections.

Strong capital expenditure

The Rekha Gupta government has doubled the capital expenditure in its budget to Rs 28,000 crore, which is much higher than the Aam Aadmi Party government's Rs 15,000 crore. This amount will be used in the development of roads, education and other infrastructure. This step has been taken to strengthen the infrastructure in Delhi, which is expected to change the face of the city.

Special schemes for women

The Rekha Gupta government has paid special attention to the welfare of women. The budget includes a Rs 5,100 crore Mahila Samridhi Yojana for women, under which women of Delhi will be given Rs 2,500 per month. Apart from this, a one-time assistance of Rs 21,000 has been announced to pregnant women under the Matritva Vandan Yojana. A provision has also been made to install 50,000 additional CCTV cameras for women's safety.

Cleaning of Yamuna and clean water supply

The BJP government has given priority to the cleaning of Yamuna and for this it has planned to build 40 de-centralized sewage treatment plants at a cost of Rs 500 crore. Also, a provision of Rs 9,000 crore has been made for clean water supply, which is three times more than the budget of previous governments.

Focus on health services

The Delhi government has announced an insurance cover of Rs 10 lakh under the Ayushman Bharat scheme to improve health services, in which the Delhi government will provide a top-up of Rs 5 lakh in addition to the central government's insurance of Rs 5 lakh. A provision of Rs 320 crore has been made to strengthen primary health services, while critical care services and diagnostic facilities will be strengthened under the PM-Ayushman Bharat Infrastructure Mission.

Schemes for the poor and slum dwellers

Rs 696 crore has been allocated for the development of slums, as well as the acceptance of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has been announced. Atal canteens will be opened at 100 locations, for which a budget of Rs 100 crore has been set. The scheme aims to provide cheap and nutritious food to the poor.

Political message and future direction

Rekha Gupta described the budget as based on the principle of equality of Constitution maker Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Antyodaya of Deen Dayal Upadhyay, Sarvodaya of Mahatma Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas". Accusing the previous government of Delhi of lack of development, she said that her government would try to make Delhi clean, safe and economically strong.

Through this budget, BJP has adopted a strategy to challenge Arvind Kejriwal's politics and strengthen its hold in Delhi. For the last decade, Kejriwal government had gained public support through free schemes, but BJP is now adopting the same strategy and trying to win the trust of the people of Delhi through improvement in infrastructure and services.
