Punjab Politics: Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Vading on Thursday announced that the party will give a chance to 60-70 new faces in the 2027 assembly elections. This move will be important towards reviving the political leadership of the party in the state and raising new leadership in accordance with public sentiment.

Young leaders will get a chance

Vading said in the state executive meeting of Punjab Youth Congress that this transformative leadership will be in line with the needs of Punjab. He said, "These new faces will not only be a symbol of change, but will also live up to the trust of the youth and the common people of Punjab." He called upon the members of the Youth Congress to take full advantage of this opportunity and play their role in building the future of the state.

In a statement issued by the party, Vading said, "This is an opportunity for young leaders to prove themselves and show the people of Punjab that the Congress is committed to bringing real and meaningful change, not just electoral politics."

Congress suffered a crushing defeat in 2022

It is worth noting that the Congress suffered a crushing defeat in the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections. In the 117-seat assembly, the Aam Aadmi Party won a majority by winning 92 seats, while the Congress was reduced to just 18 seats. The BJP and its allies got only two seats, and the Shiromani Akali Dal got four seats.

Future strategy

This move of the Congress is being considered a major effort towards the strategic restructuring of the party. The inclusion of new faces will help the party reach out to young voters and strengthen its position in the state.
