Mumbai: Corona cases are increasing rapidly in Maharashtra. On Monday, for the second consecutive day, more than one thousand new cases were found in the state. 1036 new cases were reported on Monday. If we look at the average of the last seven days, this is the highest since February 26, when the corona cases started decreasin. The positivity rate is also 4.25 percent, which is the highest after February 13. Expert doctors say that it is too early to say whether this should be considered as the sound of the fourth wave of corona. Unless there is a new variant, the chances of a new wave are slim. State Health Minister Rajesh Tope is also saying that there is no need to worry much as the severity of the virus is not high and the hospitalization rate among patients is very low.

According to Hindustan Times, Health Minister Rajesh Tope, after the cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, said that this increase in corona cases is mainly due to Omicron's variants BA.4 and BA.5, which are extremely important. is contagious. However, the rate of hospitalization of corona patients is very low in entire Maharashtra and Mumbai as well. According to the available data, only 1 percent of the positive patients are facing the danger of hospitalization. Mumbai has 24,579 beds, of which only 185 or 0.74 per cent were filled on Monday. Of the 4768 beds with oxygen facilities, only 14 (0.29 per cent) had patients.

Rajesh Tope said that 676 new cases were found in Mumbai on Monday. From the last week of May, 60-70 percent of the total cases in the state are being found in Mumbai itself. In the cabinet meeting, the Health Minister told that in the last seven days in Mumbai (67.287%), Thane (17.17%), Pune (7.42%), Raigad (3.36%) and Palghar. (2%) percent of cases were found. The daily positivity rate in these five districts ranged from 3 to 8 percent. Data is not available about the number of BA.4 and BA.5 Omicron cases in the rising corona cases in Maharashtra. Due to these two variants, a new wave of corona is coming in countries like South Africa. One of the reasons scientists believe that it is more infectious is that it is more adept at dodging against antibodies present in the body.

Are these rising cases a sign of the fourth wave of Corona? On this, experts believe that most of the people in India have immunity due to the ba.2 variant of Omicron, which is still working. Apart from this, the spread of Omicron virus is definitely more, but the condition of its patients becomes less serious. According to HT, Maharashtra surveillance officer and epidemiologist Dr. Pradeep Awte says that unless there is a completely new variant of the corona virus, the chances of a fourth wave are very less. The corona cases that are increasing right now are all variants of Omicron, which brought the third wave. Cases will increase for the next few weeks, but then they will start decreasing.
