Bangladesh's return to domestic cricket

Recently, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed that the Test series against South Africa will be held in Bangladesh. The hosting of the Women's T20 World Cup was shifted from Bangladesh to UAE, but now the BCB has raised a new hope. BCB officials said that two matches of the Test series against South Africa are planned to be played in Dhaka and Chittagong.

Tentative schedule of Test series

Cricket South Africa (CSA) is yet to take a final decision regarding the upcoming tour. There are no major security concerns for the tour, and the South African government has not issued any travel advisory against travelling to Bangladesh. The BCB has also prepared a draft schedule for the series. According to it, the South African team will arrive in Bangladesh on October 16. The first Test match will be played on October 21 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, while the second Test will be played on October 29 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. The African team will leave Bangladesh on November 3.

BCB official's comment

Speaking to Cricbuzz on Friday, a BCB official said, "We are hopeful that the South Africa tour will start as per schedule and we will make an official announcement in the coming days. However, recently due to political disruption in the country, the ICC Women's T20 World Cup was shifted from Bangladesh to UAE and the tour of New Zealand A team was also rescheduled, but we are fully committed to the successful conduct of this series."
