Delhi Weather Update / Delhi-NCR engulfed in fog, speed slowed down, many trains and 184 flights delayed

Dense fog and severe cold are affecting normal life in Delhi-NCR. Vehicles are moving at a slow speed on the roads. Many trains and flights are running late due to poor visibility. The minimum temperature has been recorded at 9°C and the maximum at 18°C. There is a possibility of light rain.

Delhi Weather Update: Winter has once again started showing its effect in Delhi-NCR. Dense fog along with severe cold is badly affecting normal life. The speed of vehicles on the roads has slowed down and visibility has become very low in many areas. It has become difficult to travel without headlights and parking lights of vehicles. The Meteorological Department has informed that today's minimum temperature is likely to be 9 degrees Celsius and maximum temperature is likely to be 18 degrees Celsius. Along with this, light rain has also been predicted.

Traffic disrupted due to fog

Road, rail and air traffic is being badly affected due to dense fog. Many trains coming to Delhi are running late. At the same time, air services have also been affected due to poor visibility at Delhi Airport. So far 184 flights have been delayed and seven flights have been canceled. Air passengers have been advised to get information about the status of their flights in advance.

Railways canceled many trains

Due to fog, Indian Railways has canceled many trains keeping in mind the safety of passengers. These include 14617-18 Amritsar Janseva Express, 14606-05 Rishikesh Jammu Tawi Express, 14616-15 Amritsar Lalkuan Express, 14524-23 Ambala Harihar Express, 18103-04 Jallianwala Bagh Express, 12210-09 Kathgodam Kanpur Weekly Express and 14003-04 Malda Town Delhi Express. Railways has taken this decision to ensure the safety of passengers and prevent accidents. Passengers are being advised to check their train status online or from the nearest railway station before planning their journey.

Latest weather condition

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light rain and cloudy sky during Wednesday evening or night. Earlier on Tuesday, the weather remained clear in Delhi-NCR. There was fog for some time on Tuesday morning, but the sun came out later. The maximum temperature on the day was recorded at 21.2 degrees Celsius, which was 1.3 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature was 8.9 degrees Celsius, which was 1.5 degrees above normal.

Delhi's AQI in worrying condition

The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was recorded at 319 on Wednesday morning, which falls in the "very poor" category. This condition is considered especially harmful for the elderly, children and people with respiratory problems.

The AQI level is divided into six categories -

0-50: Good

51-100: Satisfactory

101-200: Moderate

201-300: Poor

301-400: Very Poor

401-500: Severe

The IMD has predicted similar weather conditions for the next few days. Citizens have been advised to take appropriate measures to avoid cold and be cautious while travelling in fog.
