India-Russia Relation: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left for a visit to Russia and Austria today. He will attend the 22nd India-Russia summit in Russia. This summit is taking place after three years. Earlier this summit was held in December 2021 when Russian President Vladimir Putin came to Delhi. Before leaving for his tour, PM Modi said that I am going on an official visit to Russia for the 22nd annual summit and this will be my first visit to the Republic of Austria in the next three days.The Prime Minister said, 'The special strategic partnership between India and Russia has progressed over the last ten years. These include energy, security, trade, investment, health, education, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges. I look forward to reviewing all aspects of bilateral cooperation with my friend President Vladimir Putin and sharing perspectives on all regional and global issues. We want to play a supportive role for a peaceful and stable region. This visit will also provide me an opportunity to meet the vibrant Indian community in Russia.'What did PM Modi say about his visit to Austria?Regarding his visit to Austria, PM Modi said, 'In Austria, I will have the opportunity to meet President Alexander Van der Bellen and Chancellor Karl Nehammer. Austria is our steadfast and reliable partner. We share the ideals of democracy and pluralism. This is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in over 40 years.'He said, 'I am looking forward to talks to take our partnership to even greater heights in new and emerging areas of innovation, technology, sustainable development. I am eager to exchange views with the Austrian Chancellor on mutually beneficial trade and investment opportunities. I will also interact with the Indian community in Austria, which is known for its professionalism and conduct.'This will be PM Modi's 16th meeting with PutinIn fact, there is a lot of discussion on the global stage about PM Modi's visit to Russia. This is because this is PM Modi's first visit to Moscow after the war started with Ukraine. This visit is considered very important in many ways.
