Jharkhand Political Crisis: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) after a long interrogation. After the arrival of DGP and IG at the Chief Minister's residence, the commotion intensified, after which speculations about the Chief Minister's arrest started. Earlier, ED officials on Wednesday started questioning Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren at his residence in the money laundering case related to the alleged land scam amid heavy security cover. Hemant Soren was interrogated by ED for several hours at CM House.

On January 20, ED interrogated him for more than 7 hours.

Earlier, Hemant Soren was interrogated in the same case on January 20. An officer said that the interrogation could not be completed that day. That day, Soren was interrogated for more than seven hours. ED officials said Soren is being interrogated as part of the investigation into 'a huge racket of illegal change of land ownership by the mafia' in Jharkhand.

Section 144 imposed near Chief Minister's residence

Section 144 has been imposed in the main places of the capital Ranchi and within a radius of 100 meters of the Chief Minister's residence from 9 am to 10 pm. No one is allowed to come and go here. A large number of paramilitary forces have been deployed. At the same time, a large number of police are also present on the spot.

Protest by JMM MLAs

  Before the ED began questioning the Chief Minister, JMM-led alliance MLAs reached his residence here on Wednesday morning. Health Minister and Congress leader Banna Gupta said Soren is cooperating in the investigation. He also said that it is the duty of the constitutional institutions to conduct such investigations properly. State Agriculture Minister Badal Patralekh said that all the MLAs are with the Chief Minister. Meanwhile, JMM supporters protested at nearby Morhabadi ground and some other places against the ED action against Soren. A protester said, “On the instructions of the Centre, the ED is deliberately harassing our Chief Minister.
