IPL 2025: Ahead of IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has given a big gift to its fans. The team organized the 'RCB Unbox' event at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday, in which Virat Kohli made a big announcement. Kohli gave a special gift to Rajat Patidar and also announced that Patidar will captain the team for a long time.

During the event, Virat Kohli said, "Rajat Patidar will captain this team for a long time. Give him as much love as you can. Rajat will do a great job for this great franchise and take this team forward."

Kohli appealed to the fans to support Rajat Patidar and help the team move forward under his leadership. The announcement was very special for RCB fans, as for the first time the team has handed over the captaincy to a young and relatively inexperienced player.

Rajat Patidar becomes captain for the first time

This is an important moment for Rajat Patidar, as he is going to captain the IPL for the first time. His IPL experience is not much yet, but he has played 27 matches for RCB so far, scoring 799 runs. Patidar has an average of 34.74, which includes one century and seven half-centuries.

He made his IPL debut in 2021, but got a chance to play only 4 matches. In 2022, he scored 333 runs in 8 matches, with an average of 55.50. He could not play in the 2023 season due to injury, but in 2024 he scored 395 runs at a strike rate of over 177.
