JAMMU: The Indian Air Force (IAF) is probing whether the two blasts at the Jammu Air Force Station early on Sunday are the first drone strikes on any Indian military base. Two IAF personnel sustained minor injuries in two blasts that took place within five minutes, shortly before 2 am. According to reports, these blasts happened at 1.37 pm and 1.43 pm.Top military sources say that it is being treated as a serious incident. National Investigation Agency (NIA) team has also reached the airport, which is about 16 km from the Pakistan border. Ministry officials said Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has spoken to Air Marshal HS Arora, Vice Chief of the Air Force. According to ministry sources, Air Marshal Vikram Singh will remain in Jammu for investigation.Jammu Airport, located in the Satwari area of the city, is a dual-use airport under the control of the Indian Air Force and is also used to handle passenger flights.Sources say that the blast took place in a part of the dual-use airport operated by the Indian Air Force. Drone attack is being suspected in this attack. A team of Bomb Disposal Squad is engaged in investigation at the blast site. Apart from this, the team of NIA has also reached there.An official statement issued by the IAF said that two low-intensity blasts were reported in the early hours of Sunday in the technical area of Jammu Air Force Station. The roof of a building suffered minor damage in an explosion. The second explosion took place in an open area. There is no damage to any equipment. Investigation is on with civil agencies.The runway and air traffic control of the Jammu airport are under the control of the Indian Air Force and are also used to operate passenger flights. The blast occurred in a part of the dual-use airport operated by the Indian Air Force.
