Jammu And Kashmir: Unknown people vandalized a place of worship in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. Locals from both Hindu and Muslim communities protested against this incident on Sunday. Officials gave information about this incident. Police has formed an SIT and detained at least 12 people in connection with this incident. Deputy Commissioner Special Paul Mahajan said that the police has taken cognizance of the incident and assured the protesters that strict action will be taken against the culprits.

Unknown person vandalized

In fact, a place of worship was vandalized by an unknown person on Saturday evening in a village in Dharmadi area, which created a tense situation. After this, the local people protested fiercely. The protesters demanded that the culprits be identified and punished. Members of both Hindu and Muslim communities jointly protested. The protesters said that such incidents are a deliberate attempt to create a rift between them to damage the centuries-old brotherhood in the district.

FIR registered in the case

At the same time, officials said that the protesters blocked the main road of the district by burning tires and staging a sit-in. He said that when senior police officials told the protesters that an FIR has been registered in this connection and efforts are on to nab the culprits, they left the place peacefully. The Deputy Commissioner said, "No one trying to disturb the peaceful atmosphere will be spared. This is an attempt to disrupt and sabotage communal harmony as well as development work. This is my guarantee, we will not tolerate any attempt to disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the district."

12 people taken into police custody

Reasi SSP Mohita Sharma said that 12 people have been detained in connection with the incident. She said that a case has been registered at Arnas police station under section 295 of the IPC (damaging or desecrating a place of worship with the intent to insult the religion of any class). A detailed investigation is being conducted in this regard. Considering the gravity of the incident, the SSP has constituted an SIT under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Operations) of Reasi, who along with his team is stationed at Arnas to investigate the matter.

Three suspects were arrested last night

SSP Mohita Sharma said that police teams had arrested three suspects on Saturday night while the raids continued on Sunday and about 9 more suspects were detained for interrogation. She appealed to the people to maintain peace and communal harmony in the district and assured them that the police is committed to solve the case and trace the culprits as soon as possible.
