It is raining in most of the states of the country. Many districts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Gujarat have been receiving rains for the last several days. Many rivers of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Assam are in spate. Flood-like conditions prevail in many districts of UP and Assam. 1,342 villages are submerged due to the flood in Assam. 25,367.61 hectares of crop area has been damaged.

Assam flood: It is raining in most of the states of the country. Many districts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Gujarat have been receiving rains for the last several days. Many rivers of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Assam are in spate. Flood-like conditions prevail in many districts of UP and Assam. 1,342 villages are submerged due to the flood in Assam. 25,367.61 hectares of crop area has been damaged. The Brahmaputra river of the state is flowing above the danger mark in Nimatighat, Tezpur and Dhubri. 109 people have also lost their lives due to the flood in Assam.

Water level of Rapti river increased in Gorakhpur

Amidst heavy rains, the water level of Rapti river has increased in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Flood situation has arisen in Gorakhpur. Many villages have submerged in water. Apart from Gorakhpur, the water level of Garra river of Hardoi has also increased. About 150 villages of Hardoi are submerged in flood water. Villagers are forced to bring household items and live on elevated roads.

Waterlogging in many areas due to rain in Delhi

On Monday, many areas of Delhi-NCR received heavy rains. Waterlogging also occurred in many places including Civil Lines of Delhi. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that on Monday, the minimum temperature of Delhi was recorded at 29 degrees Celsius, which is 1.8 degrees Celsius higher than the average of this season.

Rain alert in many districts of Maharashtra

On Monday, many districts of Maharashtra also received heavy rains. Satara, Kolhapur, Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri of Maharashtra have been put on red alert due to heavy rains. Yellow alert has been issued in Mumbai and Palghar, while orange alert has been issued in Thane, Raigad and Pune. Due to continuous rain and storm, many areas of Mumbai have been heavily waterlogged.

The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Karnataka, Kerala and Goa. The Meteorological Department has predicted extremely heavy rains at isolated places in Konkan, Goa, Karnataka as well as Kerala.

Monsoon moving towards south

IMD scientist Naresh Kumar said that the monsoon is moving downwards (south). Many states of South India will receive heavy rains in the coming days. Due to the possibility of heavy rains, a red alert has been issued for Kerala, Konkan and Goa. All these places may receive more than 20 cm of rain.

Schools closed in many states

After heavy rains in many areas of Goa and IMD red alert, the state education department has declared a holiday in schools up to class 12 on July 15. Red alert was also issued for Malappuram, Kannur and Kasaragod in Kerala and orange alert for Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Wayanad. Schools and institutions have been closed in six districts of Kerala due to heavy rains and thunderstorms.
