Assam floods / More than 7 lakh people affected 24 dead as annual deluge continues to wreak havoc

The ASDMA on Sunday said that 91,518 affected people are currently living in 269 relief camps across the state. The administration has also set up 152 relief distribution centres. ASDMA further said, with the help of Indian Army, State Disaster Response Force (SDRAF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and volunteers, around 26,236 people trapped in the floods have been rescued.

Assam floods | Till now, there is no relief from floods in 22 districts of Assam. About 7.20 lakh people of these districts have been affected by the floods. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDAMA) said that at least 24 people have died in the floods and landslides so far.

Barpeta, Vishwanath, Cachar, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Goalpara, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Hojai, Jorhat, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Karbi Anglong West, Karimganj, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sonitpur and Udalguri are those districts. Where people are facing a lot of difficulties due to floods.

The report said that at least 20 dams across Assam have collapsed and several bridges have either been washed away or damaged. Several roads have been damaged or rendered unusable for vehicles, while 43,090 houses in 2,251 flood-prone villages have been completely or partially damaged.
