The meeting between the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) ended on Tuesday. In the meeting, the ICC has given time till June 28 to the BCCI to review the preparations for the T20 World Cup. Till then, if the situation of Corona in India does not improve, then the tournament will be shifted to UAE. However, during this time the hosting rights will remain with the BCCI. Bus grounds will remain of UAE.

T20 World Cup can start from October 18. Before this, the remaining 31 matches of the IPL 2021 season are also to be organized. This match can take place from 18-19 September to 10 October. However, it has not been announced yet. On Wednesday, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah can hold a meeting on this issue with the Emirates Cricket Board regarding the IPL.

1st T20 World Cup: Virtually meeting took place between ICC Board and BCCI officials. A BCCI official told the news agency that the board has sought one month's time from the council. On this, the ICC board agreed to give time till June 28 to assess the health condition.

The source said that the BCCI currently has to take a decision in 27 days. In the next meeting, the board has been asked to come up with a good plan. If the BCCI is unable to organize the event due to the threat of a third wave of corona in India, then the hosting will be given to the UAE.

The Indian board had told the state cricket associations on May 29 that it would seek one more month's time from the ICC regarding the World Cup. However, the way all the officials have reached the UAE, it seems that there has been an internal agreement to organize the World Cup in the UAE.

The Indian board has already included UAE in its Plan B for the World Cup. Dheeraj Malhotra, who was made the tournament director for the World Cup, had told in an interview to the BBC that if the event is not possible in India, then the UAE is a Plan-B.

If the World Cup takes place in the UAE, then revenue sharing can be a big issue between the BCCI and the UAE. The BCCI has already said that even if the event has to be called out, it will not lose its right to be an organiser. In such a situation, if the tournament takes place in the UAE, then the Indian board will have to share revenue with the Emirates Cricket Board.

UAE has 3 international cricket stadiums in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. In the event of the World Cup being held in the UAE, all the knockout matches and finals of the IPL can be held on the same ground. In such a situation, except one stadium, the remaining 2 stadiums can be handed over to the ICC about 15 days in advance i.e. by 2-3 October.

The remaining matches of the IPL and the World Cup make up a total of 76 matches. Having 76 matches in three stadiums in such a short span of time can make the pitch very slow. For this, the board may have to release two stadiums after a few matches of the IPL. With this, ICC will also be able to start preparations for the T20 World Cup.

2. Future Tour Program (FTP): The ICC has approved the inclusion of 14 teams in the ODI World Cup for the next FTP from 2023 to 2031. At the same time, 20 teams will play in the T20 World Cup. Till now only 10 teams played in the ODI World Cup. In the current FTP, there was a lot of damage due to Corona. In such a situation, many small countries playing cricket will benefit from the new decision of the ICC.

3. One ICC event every year: It has also been agreed to hold 8 ICC events in the next FTP. In 2019, the ICC had taken a decision regarding this. But Big-3 nations including BCCI did not show interest in it. 8 big events means that every year now there will be some ICC tournament.

With this the Champions Trophy has returned. This tournament will be played in 50 over format. In 2018, the T20 World Cup was added after removing this tournament. The last Champions Trophy tournament was played in 2017. Pakistan defeated India in the final.
