GRAP 3 in Delhi-NCR: The situation is becoming worrying due to increasing air pollution in Delhi-NCR. For the last two days, there has been a thick smog in the area, making it difficult for people to breathe and reducing visibility. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on Thursday implemented GRAP-3 (Phase 3 of Graded Response Action Plan) in view of the deterioration in air quality, under which many strict restrictions have been imposed. Due to this smog, people are facing problems like cough, eye irritation, and there is a crowd of patients at doctors. What will be banned after the implementation of GRAP-3?With the implementation of GRAP-3, many activities have been banned in Delhi-NCR, so that pollution can be reduced. These restrictions will continue from 8 am on November 15 till further orders. The third phase of GRAP is activated when the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaches the 'severe' category, which is between 401-450. In this situation, restrictions are imposed on works like construction and demolition.Delhi's AQI reached 428According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi's AQI was recorded at 428 at 9 am on Thursday, which falls in the severe category. According to the report, 30.34% of the rising pollution in Delhi is attributed to local sources and 34.97% pollution is attributed to the contribution of NCR and areas outside NCR.Change in weather expected to improve the situationDelhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said that pollution is increasing due to calm winds and low temperatures. However, the wind speed is expected to increase between Friday and Saturday, which may bring some reduction in the pollution level. The Meteorological Department has also predicted some relief in the coming days.Pollution level increased in Delhi-NCRStrict steps are being taken to avoid pollution in Delhi-NCR, so that people can be saved from health problems. The air quality in the area has been divided into four stages. Measures for 'bad' (AQI 201-300), 'very bad' (AQI 301-400), 'severe' (AQI 401-450), and 'extremely severe' (more than 450) have been provided under GRAP. The implementation of GRAP-3 is expected to help to some extent in pollution control.Increasing impact on healthDue to the increasing level of pollution, people's health is also being deeply affected. At present, there has been an increase in the number of patients visiting doctors with cough, difficulty in breathing and burning sensation in the eyes. To bring the pollution situation in Delhi under control, all citizens are being urged to be cautious and wear masks.Due to these restrictions imposed under GRAP-3, it is expected that the pollution level will be reduced to some extent and the people of Delhi-NCR will get relief.
