India / Hardeep Puri carries Guru Granth Sahib as 3 copies arrive from Kabul; shares video

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday received three copies of Shri Guru Granth Sahib that arrived in Delhi from Afghanistan's Kabul on a flight that evacuated Indian citizens and 46 Afghans. A video shared by Puri showed him carrying a copy of the holy scripture on his head and chanting 'Satnam Shri Waheguru' as he walked through the airport.

New Delhi: Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, along with MoS MEA V Muraleedharan and BJP leader RP Singh among others, received three copies of Sikh scripture Shri Guru Granth Sahib that arrived from Afghanistan along with evacuees in an Indian Air Force flight, at Delhi airport on Tuesday morning.

AI 1956 enroute to Delhi from Dushanbe carrying three copies of Sikh scripture and 78 passengers, including 25 Indian nationals landed at Delhi airport from Kabul.

On receiving the evacuees, Puri said, "I want to start by thanking PM who made it possible to carry out these rescue ops to bring our brethren who are in difficult circumstances there (Afghanistan). Arrangements also being put in place for the remaining people. We're in constant touch with them. I want to compliment the MEA, EAM S Jaishankar and MoS MEA V Muraleedharan for having implemented this."

In a separate tweet, the union minister said, "Blessed to receive & pay obeisance to three holy Swaroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji from Kabul to Delhi a short while ago."

Evacuees flown in from Kabul on an Indian Air Force aircraft chanted "Jo bole so nihal Sat Sri Akal" and "Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji ki Fateh".

India is carrying out the evacuation missions in coordination with the US and several other friendly countries. On Monday, at least 146 citizens were brought back on four different flights amid the deteriorating security situation in the war-torn country.
