UAE News: Pakistan has once again been humiliated at the international level. This time its friend and helper country Saudi Arabia itself has given a strict warning about the increasing number of beggars from Pakistan. Saudi Arabia has reprimanded the Shahbaz Sharif government of Pakistan and said that they should stop the beggars coming to Saudi Arabia as soon as possible. If this does not happen, then it can have a direct impact on Pakistani Haj and Umrah pilgrims.

Saudi Arabia's displeasure: Increasing number of Pakistani beggars

The increasing number of beggars going to Saudi Arabia on Umrah or pilgrimage visa from Pakistan has put the Saudi Arabian government in worry. According to Pakistani media, the Haj Ministry of Saudi Arabia has asked the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Pakistan to overcome this problem. In the last few months, many people coming from Pakistan on Umrah visa have been found begging in Saudi Arabia, due to which the Saudi authorities have taken this step.

Preparations to bring Umrah Act

After a strict warning from Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Pakistan has decided to bring a new law to curb this problem, which is being called the Umrah Act. Under this act, travel agencies helping for Umrah visas will be strictly monitored so that they are not involved in sending beggars to Saudi Arabia. Apart from this, Pakistan's FIA (Federal Investigation Agency) has also been given the responsibility of this investigation so that people going to Saudi Arabia or other countries to beg can be stopped.

Pakistan's falling economic condition and the issue of beggars

Pakistan's economic condition is already in serious trouble. The outstanding debt on the country and the economy running on begging have damaged Pakistan's global reputation. In such a situation, the rebuke of Islamic countries considered friends like Saudi Arabia has embarrassed the rulers of Pakistan. The anger of the people of Pakistan is increasing as their country is becoming increasingly dependent on debt and charity.

People begging in the name of pilgrimage

According to reports, every year a large number of people from Pakistan go to Saudi Arabia on Umrah visa and start begging there. In August 2023, 11 people were caught at Karachi airport who were preparing to go to Saudi Arabia, but their purpose was not Umrah, but to beg. Similarly, 16 people were arrested at Lahore airport in October 2023, who were going to Saudi to beg.

The number of Pakistani beggars in Saudi Arabian jails has already increased. Pakistan's international image is suffering heavily due to this shameful situation, but the government does not seem to have a permanent solution to it.

Pakistan's identity as a supplier of beggars

In the last few years, Pakistan has been identified as a supplier of beggars. According to a report by Dawn, about 90% of the beggars arrested worldwide are of Pakistani origin. Apart from Saudi Arabia, UAE is also facing this problem. UAE has taken strict steps several times to stop beggars coming from Pakistan. A campaign was launched in UAE during the month of Ramadan, in which more than 200 beggars were arrested, almost half of whom were women.

Weak position of Pakistani government

Pakistan's weak economy and the policies of its rulers have put the country in a situation where its international credibility is continuously falling. Pakistan's Shahbaz government is proving unable to handle the country without debt, and due to this reason the general public of Pakistan is also angry with the government.

Conclusion

Pakistan needs to take strict steps to save itself from the increasing number of beggars and its infamy on the international stage. The warnings coming from countries like Saudi Arabia and UAE show that the rulers of Pakistan should not delay in solving this problem now, otherwise its global reputation will be further affected.
