Dubai: England registered an emphatic victory over West Indies in the just concluded 3rd Test of the Wisden trophy. England defeated the West Indies by 269 runs in the rain-curtailed match. Stuart Broad emerged the hero once again having contributed in the win for England in the second Test of the same series after he was dropped from the first Test.

Meanwhile, The Wisden Trophy also bid adieu after the conclusion of the series and now the England-West Indies Test series would be named after its two greats. The two teams would now lock horns in the future for Richards-Botham Trophy. This could be a fitting tribute to the two great legends of the game.

England reaches to 3rd spot  in the ICC Test Championship points table

England has climbed to the 3rd spot after the resounding series win against the Caribbeans. They gained 80 championship points and are now at a good position in the points table with 226 points. WI, however, are reeling at a low 7th position with only 40 points which they gained after beating in the first Test of the just-concluded series.

The architect of this achievement for England is Stuart Broad who was dropped from the first Test with preference given to Mark Wood which England lost on the final day. But, Broad showed his skills after returning in the second Test and took 6 wickets which showed his absolute love for dukes.

With an in-form squad and a very lethal fast bowling unit at the helm with Broad and Anderson, England is set to eye 2nd spot in the points table with series against Pakistan at the door next month. It can be said that with championship points at the target a swinging Anderson and a duke lover Broad await Pakistan.

Coming to the World Test Championship points table, India maintains its top position in the points table with 360 points followed by Australia with 296 points. New Zealand takes the fourth slot with 180 points and Pakistan is at fifth position with 140 points. Bangladesh is the only team that is yet to open its account in the championship.
