IPL 2025 New Rules: The 18th season of IPL 2025 is going to start from March 22, in which 10 teams will clash for the title. The final match will be played on May 25. This time the opening match will be played between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. This match is expected to be very exciting, although there is also a possibility of rain, which may lead to the cancellation of the match. In such a situation, it is important to know what will happen if the match is tied or canceled?What will happen if the match is tied or canceled?In IPL 2025, every team will get 2 points for winning. If a match is canceled due to rain or other reasons, both the teams will be given 1-1 points. If the match is tied, the winner will be decided through a super over and the winning team will be given 2 points. At the end of the league stage, the top-4 teams will qualify for the playoffs. If two or more teams have the same points, the top-4 teams will be selected on the basis of Net Run Rate (NRR).Why will every team not face every opponent twice?During IPL 2025, 10 teams will play against each other, but each team will face only 5 opponents twice, while the remaining 4 teams will play only once. This has been done due to the seeding system of the teams, which is based on the performance of the previous season.On this basis, the teams have been divided into two groups: Group A: Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Punjab Kings (PBKS) Group B: Mumbai Indians (MI), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Gujarat Titans (GT), Delhi Capitals (DC), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)Each team will face the remaining 4 teams of its group 2-2 times (one match at home and the other at the opponent's ground).There will also be two matches with the same ranked team of the other group.Only 1-1 match will be played with the other 4 teams of the other group.For example, CSK will play 2-2 matches with RCB, PBKS, KKR and RR in its group. It will also have two matches with MI, which is ranked in Group B. But it will play only 1 match with the rest of the teams SRH, GT, DC and LSG.Playoff rules
- The top-2 teams will get a big advantage in the IPL playoffs:
- Qualifier 1: The top-2 teams of the points table will clash, the winner will reach the final directly.
- Eliminator: There will be a match between the third and fourth placed teams, the losing team will be out.
- Qualifier 2: There will be a match between the team that lost in the first qualifier and the winner of the eliminator. The winning team will reach the final.
- Final: The winning teams of Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 2 will clash for the title.
