Rohit Sharma, who won the T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy, had a disappointing IPL comeback. He was out without opening his account in the first match against Chennai Super Kings. This was his 18th duck in the IPL, with which he equaled the record of Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik.

In this match played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, the teams of Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings were face to face. Fans expected that Rohit Sharma would give Mumbai Indians a great start with his aggressive batting. However, the exact opposite happened.

There was pressure on South African batsman Rickelton, who was making his IPL debut, but an aggressive start was expected from Rohit Sharma. However, left-arm fast bowler Khalil Ahmed sent Rohit to the pavilion on the fourth ball. Rohit tried to play a flick shot, but the ball went straight into the hands of the fielder stationed at midwicket and he was out without opening the account.

Record of getting out on 'duck' most number of times in IPL

This season of IPL 2025 is Rohit Sharma's 18th season, and with getting out on zero in this match, he made an unwanted record in his name. This was the 18th time he got out on a duck (zero) in the IPL. With this figure, he equaled the record of getting out on duck most number of times in IPL. Along with Rohit in this list, Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik are also included, who have returned to the pavilion 18 times without opening the account.

Will Rohit be able to get back in form again?

This performance of Rohit Sharma is a matter of concern for his fans and the Mumbai Indians team. However, given his ability and experience, it can be expected that he will return to form soon and play a vital role in taking Mumbai Indians forward in the tournament.
