Meanwhile, the Dawoodi Bohra community met PM Modi and supported the law.

Waqf Amendment Bill: The political atmosphere is heated across the country regarding the Waqf Amendment Act. The central government is calling it beneficial for the Muslim community, while opposition parties and many Muslim organizations allege that this law violates the rights of Muslims. This issue has now reached the doorstep of the Supreme Court, where the constitutionality of this law has been challenged. Meanwhile, the Dawoodi Bohra community meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressing gratitude to him adds a new discussion in favor of this law.

Bohra community's support to PM Modi

On Thursday, a delegation of the Dawoodi Bohra community met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and described the Waqf Amendment Act as an age-old demand of the community. They expressed confidence in PM Modi's "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas" policy and described the law as a step to bring transparency and accountability within the Muslim community. This support of the Bohra community not only gives moral strength to the policies of the government, but also shows that the Muslim community is not homogenous, but there is diversity of thoughts in it too.

Strict monitoring of the Supreme Court

On the other hand, while hearing on the validity of this law, the Supreme Court has given some relief to the central government, but has also raised serious doubts on the implementation of the law. In its interim order, the court has banned new appointments in the Waqf Board and the Central Waqf Council. Also, any change in the status of Waqf properties has also been stopped for the time being. This is a clear indication that the court is looking at this issue not only with legal but also with social sensitivity.

Controversial provisions of the new law

There are many provisions in the new amended law which have become the root of controversies. For example, in case of dispute over Waqf property, it will not be considered as Waqf property until the investigation of the District Magistrate is completed - this arrangement raises questions on the autonomy of Waqf. Apart from this, the validity of 'Waqf-by-user' and 'Waqf-by-deed' properties cannot be challenged, which also curbs government control.

Political and social conflict

Many opposition parties including Congress allege that this law is a conspiracy to control the religious properties of Muslims. At the same time, the government is calling it a big step towards transparency, accountability and fair administration. This law has come to a point where the biggest challenge is to strike a balance between social reform and religious rights.
