Mumbai Weather: Life has been badly affected due to continuous heavy rains in Maharashtra's capital Mumbai and surrounding areas. The rain that started late at night has caused waterlogging in many parts of the city. The Meteorological Department has issued a 'Red Alert' for today in many areas including Mumbai, while 'Orange Alert' has been warned in Thane and Nashik. The government has ordered to keep all schools and colleges in Mumbai, Pune, and Pimpri-Chinchwad closed in view of security. The police administration has appealed to the citizens not to leave their homes without any urgent work, so that any untoward incident can be avoided.

Waterlogging disrupts life

Mumbai, known as the economic capital of India, has become a 'water city' due to heavy rains. Many areas of the city are submerged, and traffic has been badly affected due to waterlogging on the roads. Mumbai's local trains, which are considered the lifeline here, are running late due to rain. There have been reports of waterlogging in streets and houses in major areas like Kurla, Goregaon, and Andheri, forcing people to take shelter in safer places.

Effect of heavy rain on Wednesday too

On Wednesday too, life was affected due to heavy rain in Mumbai and surrounding areas. Waterlogging was seen in areas like Andheri, Amboli and Ghatkopar. People faced a lot of difficulties in reaching their homes. There was some improvement in the situation on Thursday, but the Meteorological Department has again issued a 'red alert' for the next 24 hours. Due to this, there are chances of heavy rain and lightning. Meanwhile, Mumbai Police has advised people to stay indoors.

Accidents and appeals

Some accidents have also come to light due to rain. In MIDC area of ​​Andheri, 45-year-old woman Vimal Gaikwad fell into an open drain, who was later rescued and taken to the hospital, but she was declared dead. Mumbai Police has advised people to call 100 in case of emergency and urged them not to walk on the tracks, as railway tracks have also been submerged in water in many areas due to rain.

The situation is even more serious in Mulund and surrounding low-lying areas. Train services have been disrupted, and incidents of landslides have also been reported. Landslides on the Mumbra bypass road are causing traffic problems.

Future challenge

Rain is likely to continue in many parts of Maharashtra, due to which the administration has to remain completely alert. However, citizens are being repeatedly appealed to avoid going out and contact the administration in case of emergency.
