IND vs WI: Which was going on for the last 16 years, continues in the 17th year as well. The one-sided dominance of the Indian team against the West Indies since 2006 continued in the 13th consecutive series. The challenge it faced in Barbados, it failed miserably in Trinidad. In the third and last ODI of the series full of experiments, the efforts of coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma got some success. Under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, the Indian team defeated the West Indies by 200 runs in the decisive match and won the series 2-1.

Right from the first match of the series, the Indian team management made some such changes regarding their batting order, which surprised them. The debate about this had started since then, which became more intense after the defeat in the second ODI. This debate is still going on and probably will continue in the future as well, but in spite of this, in the third ODI, the team management went ahead with these intentions and finally they got some success.

Ishan's fire, Gill's bat also spoke

In this match, the Windies team fell behind in the initial overs itself – in batting as well as in bowling. After winning the toss, the Windies captain bowled first like in the previous match. Once again Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill gave a strong start to Team India. This time the pace was also fast and the number of runs was also more. Both scored half-centuries and made a strong partnership of 143 runs in 19.4 overs.

Ishan scored half-centuries in all three ODIs of the series, but he could not convert it into a century all three times. This time he was stumped after scoring 77 runs.

At the same time, Gill, who failed throughout the tour, finally scored a half-century. He got out after scoring 85 runs. Between the wickets of these two, Rituraj Gaikwad (8), who came at number three, could not capitalize on his chance, but Sanju Samson also raised his name in the debate at number four. The explosive wicket-keeper batsman did aggressive batting and scored 51 runs in just 41 balls.

Hardik's smoky finishing touch

Team India had scored 240 runs in 39 overs, after which Suryakumar Yadav (35) and captain Hardik Pandya took the innings past 300. Surya showed some glimpses of his ability to bat at number six but could not give the finishing touch to the innings. Hardik did this work. After a slow start, Hardik rained heavily in the last 3 overs and scored his 10th half-century. In the last two overs, Hardik (70 not out, 5 sixes, 4 fours) hit 3 sixes, on the basis of which the team scored 351 runs.

Mukesh-Shardul's havoc

After bowling, Team India put West Indies on the backfoot from the very beginning in batting. In the first and third over of the innings, Mukesh Kumar returned the opening pair of Brandon King and Kyle Meyers to the pavilion. Mukesh did not stop here and gave the biggest blow by dismissing Windies captain Shay Hope in the 7th over.

By the 12th over, West Indies lost 5 wickets for only 40 runs. In this, left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat, who returned to the ODI team after 10 years, made KC Carty and Shardul Thakur made Shimron Hetmyer walk. Shardul also piled up Romario Shepherd in his very next over. The first 6 wickets fell for just 50 runs and all the Indian pacers got it.

Kuldeep's spin confused

Kuldeep Yadav's spin with riddles completed the remaining stone. Alyque Athanaz (32), battling alone for the West Indies, was bowled by Kuldeep on a beautiful ball, while Yannick Caria was dismissed LBW in no time. Gudkesh Moti (39 not out) and Alzarri Joseph (26) shared a strong half-century partnership for the ninth wicket in the lower order for the West Indies, but the defeat was already decided and they could only reduce the gap. The Windies team was bundled out for just 151 runs in 35.3 overs. For Team India, Shardul got 4, Mukesh got 3 and Kuldeep got 2 wickets.
