S. Jaishankar News: India's Foreign Minister S Jaishankar recently laid out India's clear position while discussing the US dollar and the currency of the BRICS countries. Speaking at the Doha Forum in Qatar, he said that India is not interested in weakening the US dollar or supporting any new BRICS currency. He emphasized that India wants to maintain strong and positive relations with the US.

Donald Trump's warning and India's response

Former US President Donald Trump recently posted on the social media platform 'X' and warned of taking a tough stand on the 'de-dollarization' policy of the BRICS countries. He had said that if the BRICS countries try to weaken the US dollar, the US will impose 100 percent tariffs on them. Trump also said that the BRICS countries should clarify whether they will promote any new currency as an alternative to the US dollar.

On this, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar clarified India's stand at the Doha Forum and said that India is not involved in the plan for any new BRICS currency. He also said that India's aim is not to challenge the US dollar in any way.

Positive message on India-US relations

Jaishankar shared a positive outlook on India-US relations. Referring to the strong friendship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Donald Trump, he said that there was significant progress in India-US relations during the tenure of both the leaders.

The Foreign Minister also informed that the QUAD was re-started during the time of Donald Trump, which is a strategic group of India, America, Japan and Australia. Apart from this, there was also a consensus between the two countries in the trade and defense sector.

Role of BRICS group

BRICS is an important global group consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The group started in 2006 as BRIC and was named BRICS after the joining of South Africa in 2010.

The aim of the BRICS countries is to strengthen the global economic balance, but in recent years the group has been in the news for its currency policy and other strategic decisions. Jaishankar's statement made it clear that India is not planning to take any step regarding a new currency even while being in the BRICS group.

Conclusion

India has clarified its stand and said that it will not support weakening the US dollar or promoting any new BRICS currency. This statement reflects the stability of India-US relations and India's neutrality. This statement of S Jaishankar at the Doha Forum in Qatar is proof that India is playing its responsible role on the global stage and giving priority to balanced economic policies.
