S. Jaishankar News: Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar recently praised the policy decisions of US President Donald Trump. He said that the recent decisions taken by the Trump administration are in the interest of India and this will further strengthen the relationship between the two countries. Jaishankar is currently on a visit to London, where he answered questions asked about America's new foreign policy.America's new foreign policy and its impact on IndiaWhen Jaishankar was asked what his opinion is about the first 41 days of America's new foreign policy and whether it will be beneficial for India, he said,"If I say honestly, there is no surprise in this. I was a little surprised by what I have seen and heard in the last few weeks, but if seen in the true sense, it is in line with India's interests. Our political relations are good and there has been no negative impact on it in recent times."The Foreign Minister further said that the strategic partnership between India and America remains strong. Both the countries are working together for stability and security in the Indo-Pacific region. He specifically mentioned the Quad group, saying that all member countries are playing their role in it and this partnership is working effectively without any additional conditions.Trump's big announcement on tariffsJaishankar's remarks came at a time when President Trump made a big announcement of imposing new tariffs on India. Addressing a joint session of the US Parliament, Trump said, "From April 2, whatever tariff the country imposes on America, we will also impose the same tariff on them. India imposes more than 100% tariff, so we will also impose retaliatory tariffs in the same proportion."He further said that India imposes more than 100% tariff on automobile products, and now America will also impose similar retaliatory duty. Trump also targeted China and said that China also imposes twice the tariff as compared to America, so reciprocal tariffs will also be imposed on them.'Tit for Tat' policy and global turmoilTrump clarified that his policy will be based on 'Tit for Tat' (Reciprocal Tariff). He said,"We have already decided to impose 25% tariff on goods imported from Canada and Mexico and 10% on China. Now this policy will be implemented on other countries including India."After this decision of Trump, there has been a stir in the global trade world. Experts believe that this can lead to a situation of global tariff war. Many countries have criticized this policy of Trump, while some countries have called it the right step to protect their business interests.Possible impact on India-US relationsWhile on the one hand Jaishankar described Trump's policy as favorable to India, business analysts believe that this tariff policy can create tension in India-US trade relations. However, diplomatic and defense cooperation between the two countries is constantly getting stronger, due to which it is expected that this dispute will not last long.Jaishankar also emphasized in his statement that the relationship between India and America is not limited to just trade, but both countries are working together on important issues like global security, counter-terrorism, and Indo-Pacific strategy.ConclusionThe new trade policy adopted by the Trump administration may cause challenges for India in some areas, but Foreign Minister Jaishankar believes that the diplomatic relationship between the two countries will remain strong. The future of India-US relations will depend on how the two countries resolve trade disputes and advance the strategic partnership in the coming months.
