Ashwini Vaishnaw: The field of generative AI is developing rapidly all over the world. While OpenAI's ChatGPT and China's DeepSeek are trying to establish their dominance in this technology, India is also going to join this competition. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has recently announced that India is also working towards developing its generative AI model.AI Mission of IndiaAshwini Vaishnaw informed about this ambitious plan during the Utkarsh Odisha Conclave. With the arrival of this AI model of the Government of India, there will be direct competition with China's DeepSeek and OpenAI's ChatGPT. This initiative of the government will be operated under the India AI Compute Facility. 18,000 GPUs have been made available for this mission, which will develop Large Language Models (LLM) as per the needs of the country.Development of Semiconductor and AI EcosystemUnder this scheme, the government is working towards developing world class semiconductor and AI ecosystem. Huge investments are being made in research and innovation so that India is not dependent on foreign AI models.When will India's generative AI model come?According to the Union Minister, at least six major developers, startups and technical teams can start working towards preparing this AI model in the next 4 to 10 months. With this, India will not only become self-reliant in the AI field, but will also make its mark globally.Rapidly growing AI raceIn 2022, OpenAI launched ChatGPT, after which there was a revolutionary change in the world of AI. Now China's DeepSeek has developed a state-of-the-art generative AI model at a low cost, which has created a stir in the global tech world.It is clear from this initiative of India that the country is also fully prepared to make its strong hold in the AI field. In the times to come, the Indian generative AI model can give rise to new possibilities on the global stage.
