The VIVO IPL 2020 Player Auction list is out with a total of 332 cricketers set to go under the hammer in Kolkata on December 19th, 2019. While 997 players had initially registered, the final list has been pruned after the eight franchises submitted their shortlist of players. With INR 2 crore as the highest reserve price, seven overseas players – Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Chris Lynn, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Dale Steyn & Angelo Mathews have opted to be slotted in the highest bracket.Robin Uthappa, who was released by Kolkata Knight Riders, is the only Indian player in the Auction list with a base price of INR 1.5 crore. Other Indian stars, Piyush Chawla, Yusuf Pathan & Jaydev Unadkat have set their base price at INR 1 crore. Jaydev Unadkat, who emerged as the most expensive Indian player at the last auction after Rajasthan acquired his services for INR 8.4 cr, has cut his base price down to INR 1 crore from INR 1.5 crore.Taking the recent form into consideration, Australian pacers Cummins and Hazlewood are expected to receive hefty bids in the auction. U-19 skipper Priyam Garg, who is amongst the uncapped players’ list, is expected to initiate a bidding war in the auction due to his recent form. Yashasvi Jaiswal is another teenage sensation who could invite massive bids in the auction.Ahead of the IPL 2020 auction, 24 new faces are the entrants to the players’ list. West Indies pacer Kesrick Williams is also slated for the auction along with Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim and Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa. Many franchises are anticipated to splurge their cash on all-rounders like Sam Curran, Glenn Maxwell and Colin de Grandhomme. England’s young wicket-keeper Tom Banton, whose base price is INR 1 crore, will also be under the radar of several franchises.A total of 186 Indian players, 143 overseas players & 3 players from Associate Nations will be up for grabs in the VIVO IPL 2020 Player Auction in Kolkata.The Auction will start at 15:30 IST.
