IPL 2024 Schedule: Different reports are coming in regarding whether the 17th season of the Indian Premier League will be held entirely in India or not. Now all these reports have been silenced by Jai Shah, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India himself. Shah has made it clear that the IPL 2024 season will be played entirely in India and the board has no plans to take it to UAE or any other country. This statement of Jay Shah has come after the announcement of the date of Lok Sabha elections, which are going to start from April 19. The new season of IPL is starting from 22nd March.

The Indian Board had released the IPL schedule only last month but it was a schedule of only 17 days, in which the schedule of only 21 matches was mentioned. The tournament is to start from March 22 with the match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore and the last match of the first phase is to be played on April 7. BCCI had then said that after the announcement of the Lok Sabha election dates, the schedule for the remaining part of the tournament will be released by working with government agencies and security agencies.

Jai Shah clearly refused

Since then, there was continuous speculation that in view of the challenge of security arrangements in the Lok Sabha elections, the Board may organize the remaining part of the tournament outside India. Before the Election Commission announced the dates on Saturday, March 16, a report had claimed that the remaining part could be held in UAE, for which the board is talking to the Emirates Cricket Board. But now BCCI Secretary Shah himself has rejected these reports.

After the announcement of the Lok Sabha election dates, the Indian Board made it clear that the tournament will be organized in India only. Cricket website Cricbuzz cited Jay Shah's statement in its report, in which the BCCI Secretary made it clear that the tournament will not be taken out of India. That means it is clear that even after April 7, the tournament will be organized in India only. The tournament will run till the end of May, after which the T20 World Cup will start.

How was IPL organized in the last elections?

Earlier twice, IPL was organized outside India due to Lok Sabha elections. Firstly, due to the elections in 2009, the entire tournament was organized in South Africa. This was only the second season of the tournament. After this, something similar happened in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections also. Then before the start of the elections, some part was held in India and after that the next part was played in UAE. In 2019, however, the entire tournament was held in India during the elections.
