Waqf Amendment Bill / Wakf bill will be presented tomorrow, opposition is ready, meeting of MPs called

Today, the Lok Sabha's Business Advisory Committee met, in which the government announced to introduce the Waqf Amendment Bill. Eight hours have been set aside for discussion on this. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that if necessary, the time for discussion can be extended.

Waqf Amendment Bill: Today the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the Lok Sabha concluded, in which the government announced that it would introduce the Waqf Amendment Bill tomorrow. Eight hours have been set aside in the Lok Sabha to discuss this bill. However, after this announcement, members of opposition parties walked out of the House.

Speaker's statement: Possibility of extension of time limit

The Lok Sabha Speaker made it clear that if the House agrees, the time limit set for discussion on this bill can be extended. He said that for a healthy discussion in Parliament, all parties should get an opportunity to present their views.

Support of Catholic Church

The government informed that the Catholic Church has supported this bill, which is being seen positively. The government believes that this bill is being brought keeping in mind the interests of all sections of the society.

Kiren Rijiju's statement: The process of the bill is clear

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju informed that he will present this bill in the Lok Sabha after the Question Hour. He also said that if the opposition demands more time, the discussion time can be extended with the consent of the House. The bill will be sent to the Rajya Sabha after being passed by the Lok Sabha. If necessary, the duration of the session can also be considered to be extended.

NDA strategy and whip issued

The NDA has issued a chief whip to all its constituent parties in the Lok Sabha, in which instructions have been given to ensure the presence of all MPs in the House on April 2. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has also said that the MPs who will get the opportunity to speak during the discussion on the Waqf Bill should focus on the main points of the bill and use restrained language.

Opposition's demand: Emphasis on increasing the discussion time

Opposition parties including Congress were demanding at least 12 hours of discussion on this bill. However, the government has made it clear that after the discussion, an attempt will be made to pass the bill on the same day.
