Jasprit Bumrah has been awarded the ICC Player of the Month award for his brilliant performance in the T20 World Cup 2024. Jasprit Bumrah had earlier won the Player of the Tournament award in the T20 World Cup. Bumrah has won this award leaving behind Rohit Sharma and Afghanistan's Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Nearly 30-year-old Jasprit Bumrah took 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 in his best performance in the USA and West Indies, in which his economy was around 4.17. He joined Virat Kohli among the Indian players to receive the Player of the Tournament award in the T20 World Cup. Starting the T20 World Cup campaign in New York, Bumrah was always reliable for India, he took three wickets for 6 runs in the very first match against Ireland. Four days later, against Pakistan, he sent three Pakistani batsmen to the pavilion for 14 runs.

Jasprit Bumrah was also lethal in the Super 8

He again bowled brilliantly in the Super 8 of the tournament. He took a total of six wickets in three matches. After this, Bumrah took 2 wickets for 12 runs in India's semi-final over England. Earlier, he dismissed two batsmen for only 18 runs against South Africa in the final in Barbados.

Bumrah said this on getting the award

After winning the award, Bumrah said that he is happy to be named the ICC Men's Player of the Month for June. This is a special honor for me after some memorable moments spent in the USA and West Indies. As a team we had a lot to celebrate, and I am happy to add this personal honor to the list. Bumrah said that the way we performed in the tournament and finally lifting the trophy is incredibly special, and I will always keep those memories with me. Bumrah said that I want to congratulate my captain Rohit Sharma and Rahmanullah Gurbaz for the great performance. Proud to be selected as the winner.
