A hearing was held in the High Court on Tuesday regarding the controversy over wearing hijab in schools and colleges of Karnataka. In the court, arguments were made on behalf of the advocate general of the government and the advocate of the girl students seeking admission in school-college wearing hijab. Kamat further said that if some miscreants are creating trouble in this, then it is the duty of the state government to make arrangements to take these girl students to school safely. At the same time, arguing the matter on behalf of the government, the Advocate General said that the institutions in the state have been given the freedom to decide on the uniform of the students. In the city's pre-university college, six girl students were denied entry to the class for wearing hijab. The college administration has attributed this to equality in dress.
